  • Bio

202s marry vintage synth sounds with the pop instrumentation of melodicas, glockenspiels and harmonicas, then filter the lot through a post-punk haze. Formed as a duo in April 2007, they operated initially as a studio outfit and immediately set about crafting their self titled debut album. Released throughout Europe by Parisian indie Le Son Du Maquis (home to A Certain Ratio, James Chance & more) Northern Irelands' AU Magazine described it as “a beautiful Frankenstein of a record” while prominent French music magazine Magic RPM called it “a mixture of harmonica, psychedelic sounds, a taste of pop & a funk base”. Germanys' Musikexpress meanwhile described the bands' sound as "hymnal Kraut-pop from Dublin". The band performed live regularly throughout 2009 & early 2010, sharing bills with acts including Super Furry Animals & Fujiya & Miyagi. Their performance at Irelands' Oxegen festival was described by the Irish Times as a blend of "gorgeous Krautrock grooves, really robust songs and great stage presence." In the latter half of 2010 the band released a series of free virtual 7 inches featuring remixes of tracks from their debut by noted Irish artists such as Strands, Patrick Kelleher & St. Catherines Home For Lazy Infants. 202s are currently recording their second album, due for release in 2011.
