About me:

One of Ipswich's oldest pubs, PJ McGinty & Sons was formally known as The Halberd Inn. Now Ipswich's premier Irish pub, it has a well-deserved reputation for great beer and spirits (of the drinkable and supernatural varieties!), a good craic and some fine live music.

McGinty's has three seperate, dedicated music and function rooms, as well as one of the best outside, covered, heated areas in town - where you can even sometimes see some of that night's gig projected onto the big screen - so the place is fast becoming the only place to be, whatever kind of music you like.

The Blue Room is our main live area and features an installed PA with onstage monitoring, as well as mixing desk, outboard and lighting. The room is situated upstairs, to the rear of the building, and has already played host to numerous bands and artists from across the world in it's eighteen-month existence.

Ronnie's Bar is our acoustic, cabaret and party bar. Situated above the main bar of the pub, you can find regular open mic, DJ, acoustic and experimental nights. It is also available for private hire, so please contact us for further information.

The Green Room is our Main DJ bar and second acoustic area. Situated on the ground floor to the rear of the building, this area is wired for sound with the upstairs live room, meaning that the DJ spinning can be played between the bands' sets and vice versa. This room is also available for multi-purpose use and hire.

All of this is available at an affordable rate and our easy-access booking policy means that it is simple for you to put on your own event, or to play at an in-house event. We have a first-class technical team who provide all events with the sound and support they need.
