BIO

Natalia Zisa, a native from Buenos Aires, Argentina grew up in a very artistic and musical home. Her father, Salvador Zisa, was an accomplished architect as well as a successful jazz drummer in Argentina, who exposed Natalia from an early age to a world of artistic possibilities. Listening to jazz, rock, world and classical music was all part of her upbringing and contributed to a colorful, rich environment for her. Having a natural instinct for singing and dancing, at the tender age of 16 she leaped into the dance world full force by moving to La Habana, Cuba. There, she lived and danced for the next three years after receiving a dance scholarship and the opportunity to perform with dancers from The National Ballet of Cuba. Natalia eventually moved to the US making her way to New York City where she had the privilege to perform as a soloist at the The Metropolitan Opera Ballet with world renowned film and opera director Franco Zeffirelli , Ballet Hispanico of New York, among many others. One year after arriving to New York City, Natalia decided to take another leap and audition for the first time as a singer/dancer for the workshop of a Broadway musical, “The Capeman”. Paul Simon was composing the music and Ruben Blades and Marc Anthony were cast in the two principal roles. Natalia got the job and this incredible experience marked the beginning of her musical career. Natalia continued her journey by performing and recording in the original Broadway company of "Aida", with music by Elton John, starring Heather Headley and Toni Braxton who succeeded her. She was invited by Nacho Cano, a member of the popular Spanish band Mecano, to record as a soloist on two of his solo albums. She originated the role of Maria Flores in the musical “The Mambo Kings”, with the powerful Cuban singer and Grammy winner Albita. She also originated the role of Mercedes in the World Premier of “Carmen The Musical” directed by Franco Dragone of Cirque de Soleil. Internationally, Natalia has toured both Europe and Asia in the classic “West Side Story”, playing the role of Anita. Following her theater success, 2010 marked the debut of Natalia on three independent films. These include “The Imperialists are Still Alive”,selected by the Sundance Film festival in 2010, “Manuel y Mariana” and “Louis”', the latter a black and white film based on the childhood life of Louis Armstrong with music composed by Wynton Marsalis. All this artistic energy has fueled Natalia to begin her next creation, writing and composing her own music, her most personal and perhaps the most satisfying artistic journey she has ever experienced thus far. Her music inspirations are her life stories, fiction, nature and all of the places she has been fortunate to see. Recognition of her writing talent has emerged by her collaboration as a lyricist with superb composer, pianist and 2010 Grammy winner, Fernando Otero. As well as one of her original songs being featured on the Home4Dance website on the “Behind the Scenes” video. Painting a collage of sound, layered with her penetrating and powerful voice combined with poetically beautiful and sometimes profound lyrics, Natalia Zisa will surprise and delight her listeners to exotic satisfaction.
