  • Bio

AWARD WINNING COMPOSER John "Chris" Christensen (Aka: Chris Christensen, W.G. Christensen, John W. Christensen, John W.G. Christensen, or just plain old JC) plays a number of instruments, some of them actually pretty well. He played his first professional gig (as a drummer) in December of '62 and hasn't stopped since, even continuing to do gigs while in the US Army in places like New Jersey and New York, various parts of Vietnam, Arizona, and Germany. He has been discovered and forgotten so many times he's lost count. He has performed and/or recorded with: The Sunsets, The Surf Riders, The Intruders, The Reveres, The Pages, The Town Criers, Time Of Your Life, Opus 1, A New Delhi Abstract Three Pyce Band, River Om, The Few, Burning Desire, Mirkwood, Steepfleet, Danny Flores AKA: Chuck "Tequila" Rio, Future Shock, Improved Muskrat, The Long Beach Municipal Band, Night Tide, Brother Bones, Charo, Urbie Green, Sky King, Midnight Flyer, Hot Food To Go!, Delong and Wagonner, Hey Taxi, The Utensils, The Downloaders, The Beat Brothers, Blackbyrd McKnight, Skip Towne & Friends, The Rounders, Seduction of the Innocent, The Jenerators, Frank Stallone, Artie Barnes, Steve Lukather, Shaun Cassidy, The Over The Hill Gang, Al Latour, The Little Big Band, Christensen/Schultz, Big Band Command, Abe Most, Spike Jones, Graham Young, Ed Mihelich, Carmen De Oro, The Drifters, Lionel Hampton, The Seaport Seven, The John Hendersen Big Band, On The Edge, The Hollywood Flames, Soul Frat, Lost Time, The Lauras, Mark Spoelstra, Ele*Mental, Lucille's Night Out, Bill Morse and JC Christensen, and Michael and Spider. "Chris" collects gold and silver age Comic Books, vintage Rock and Roll/R&B records, plays Pork Pie Drums and Zildjian Cymbals, uses Pigtronix guitar processors, he likes his family, Single Malt Scotch, and a really good Tequila now and then. ......This profile was edited with ..qnun.com Editor.............. • Sounds Like

I hope the compositions reflect my personality filtering the music that I love through my own personal mixmaster vortex, using the instruments that I play with various amounts of proficiency: Drums, Guitars, Voice, Bass, Harmonica, Keys, Sax, Flute, Tuned and Untuned Percussion, and just about anything else I can get an (in)appropriate sound out of.

Another Opus 1 flash via Gene Dorney: the new book, "The Doors: A Lifetime of Listening to Five Mean Years" by Greil Marcus contains a mention and footnote about Long Beach, Ca band Opus 1 and "Back Seat '38 Dodge." Nice to be recognized - royalties would be even nicer. :)
