Bio
Blang started life as a monthly night at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street (AKA Tin Pan Alley, a street rich in rock’n’roll history) in 2002 when Joe Murphy, enthused after discovering New York antifolk, wanted a platform where people could see acts from New York and similarly-influenced UK performers. In its early days Blang hosted many NY acts such as Jeffrey Lewis, Lach, Major Matt Mason USA, Diane Cluck, Dufus, Prewar Yardsale and Thomas Truax. The club became a focal point for the embryonic London ‘antifolk scene’ and saw early performances from David Cronenberg’s Wife, Milk Kan, Paul Hawkins, Filthy Pedro and many others as well as the likes of The Broken Family Band, Chris TT, The Television Personalities, Misty’s Big Adventure, John Otway, The Wave Pictures, The Research, The Rebel, Herman Dune and the legendary Sky Saxon (who played a 20 minute improv piece titled ‘Ronald Reagan Is Dead’). The Blang nights continue the second Monday of each month. After 2004’s Blang Canvas night at the Tate Britain Joe hatched a plan for a Blang label, to be launched with a compilation CD featuring 26 acts who had played at the night. The ‘Fruit Machine’ CD was the label’s first release in October 2005. In 2006 antifolk singer JJ Crash joined Joe in running the label and since then Blang has released a string of acclaimed 7 inch singles and albums from David Cronenberg’s Wife, Milk Kan, Sergeant Buzfuz, Filthy Pedro, Malcolm Kaksois, deXter Bentley and Dan Edelstyn and the Orchestra Of Cardboard. In December 2008 Blang was Label of the Week on the Huw Stephens “In New Music We Trust” Radio One show. In October 2009, invited by Tom Robinson, Blang presented a label showcase night at Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios as part of the BBC Fresh On The Net Festival. .. .. .. .. ..MyGen.. ..Profile Generator.. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... -

JAILBREAK is the duo of pedal steel/vocalist Heather Leigh Murray and
drummer Chris Corsano. They
play improvised music that dispenses with traditional notions of call
and response or dialogue in favour of a simultaneity that takes instant forms from the application of high energy strategies.
COLLIDER is the unconventionally noisy
quartet from Leeds Improvised Music Association stalwarts; Matthew
Bourne (keys), Dave Kane (electric and double bass), Chris Sharkey
(guitar) & Chris Bussey (drums). Collider apply their profound
understanding of improvisatory practice in rendering a sonic maelsrom
that values inimical volume over all else.
ISAMBARD KHROUSTALIOV is the solo alias of Sam Britton, also of electronic group Icarus and live improv trio Leverton Fox. Sam creates immersive textural
narratives which are immediately abrasive, and simultaneously
indicative of longer, more graceful structures.

I'm playing V:Room at The Strongroom tonight (20/05/10) from 8. If you can come please do and if you can bring a coupla mates all the better. I'm playing an epic 5 or 6 hour set which has seen me digging out some forgotten treasures and y'know it would be a shame if nobody heard it.
